Welcome to Your New Pharmacy Benefit Plan

January 2022

Beginning January 1, 2022, your prescription drug benefits are managed by Navitus Health Solutions (Navitus), which replaced Anthem IngenioRx as the administrator of the UC PPO plans prescription drug benefit.

Reminder! You need to use your new Anthem member ID card when filling prescriptions.

Filling Prescriptions

Retail. Fill prescriptions at a Navitus network retail pharmacy, including Costco, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart and Safeway/Vons. You can also fill prescriptions at University of California (UC) medical center walk-up pharmacies. Find pharmacies near you on the Navitus member portal and NavitusPlus app (see step-by-step instructions below).

Mail order. Transfer existing prescriptions for maintenance medications taken on an ongoing basis to the Costco Pharmacy mail service. You can get a 90-day supply for the price of a 60-day supply. Mail order is cost-effective and convenient, and your prescription is mailed to your home. You don’t have to be a Costco member to use the mail order pharmacy, but you will have to register with Costco Pharmacy. Learn more about setting up your account with Costco.

Specialty pharmacy. If you take any specialty medications, you will have them filled through Lumicera Health Services (Lumicera) or select UC medical center pharmacies. To order a new specialty medication, call Lumicera at (855) 847-3553. Learn more about ordering specialty medications.

Your Costs

Your prescription drug coinsurance levels (the percentage of cost that you pay) haven’t changed. However, every prescription benefit manager (PBM) uses its own formulary, which is a list of drugs that are covered by the plan. While the Anthem IngenioRx and Navitus formularies are similar, there are differences, which could affect your individual medication costs.

Review the Navitus formulary on the Navitus member portal (see step-by-step instructions below).

Get Started

  1. Use your new ID card that you received from Anthem in December. Your new ID card includes information your pharmacist needs to process your prescriptions through Navitus. You should use your ID card for both your medical care (doctor and hospital visits) and when filling your medications. The correct ID card will have a Navitus logo on the bottom of the back of the card.
  2. Register with the Navitus member portal to find pharmacies, compare drug costs and access educational resources to help you manage your health.
    • You’ll need your member ID (found on your Anthem ID card) and you’ll need to include your member suffix (01= UC employee/retiree, 02 = spouse, 03 = oldest dependent child, 04 = next oldest dependent child, etc.)

  3. Download the NavitusPlus app (App Store | Google Play) to access all this information on the go. You can use your member portal registration to log in to the app.
  4. Set up your mail service account with the Costco Pharmacy mail service. Once you’re registered, you can transfer open prescriptions, start a new prescription and request refills online, and your prescription will be delivered to you by mail. Learn more about setting up your account with Costco.
